5 Reasons You Should Take Plantar Fasciitis Seriously

Plantar Fasciitis, popularly know as Jogger’s Heel is a condition, where an individual experiences extreme pain around the foot and heels. As per Mayo Clinic, this is one of the most common heel pains and it generally occurs in the thick tissue under the foot, called plantar fascia. When this tissue gets inflamed, it causes the painful condition of the foot, which can have serious consequences too.

The ligament, basically supports the arch of the foot and with too much pressure and strain, it gets swollen and results in excruciating pain, known as plantar fasciitis or heel pain. It hurts the most when you are walking or standing for a long time.  It is quite common during old age, but in younger people, it can occur for those, who uses their feet for a long time like running in athletes or standing for soldiers. Plantar Fasciitis is a heel pain, which can occur in one or both feet.

As the tissue is related to the heel bone, it can also cause a ‘heel spur’. It is a small, bone-like growth on the heel bone or calcaneus. This happens due to plantar fasciitis, but not in all cases. When the area is touched, you can feel the lump, this can also be extremely painful and left untreated might require surgery.


If this condition is not treated for a long time, it can lead to other abnormalities in the body like biochemical changes, muscle imbalance, stiff joints, which makes your muscles weak. It can cause harm to the entire kinetic chain of the body.
